Grass Valley Delivers the Newsroom System of Choice for LATAM Broadcasters

MONTREAL, June 19, 2019 — Grass Valley's all-in-one media production platform, GV STRATUS, has been selected to deliver end-to-end newsroom capability by three major LATAM broadcasters: TV Bahia, TV Integração and TV Pajuçara. These partnerships cement Grass Valley's position as the market leader in live production, making it the clear choice for broadcasters across this region. GV STRATUS enables broadcasters to get stories to air first, leveraging its powerful, flexible and agile toolset to simplify workflows within the news production environments.

Today's consumers demand breaking news stories and compelling, relevant content, delivered simultaneously across multiple devices. As a result, broadcasters need efficient, collaborative workflows that enable them to engage with viewers faster than ever. GV STRATUS is the most complete and versatile application environment for non-linear production and brings enhanced news orchestration capabilities, such as integrated social media publishing, monitoring and tracking.

Having extensively used Grass Valley products and solutions for over ten years, TV Bahia, an affiliate of major television network Rede Globo, chose to upgrade its newsroom environment with GV STRATUS with GV I/O supporting four ingest and eight playout channels, four EDIUS Workgroup 9 high resolution editing stations and ten low resolution EDIUS editing stations. The new workflow allows the production team and engineering director, Romildo Fausto, to manage content assets across multiple media workflows from ingest to playout, improving performance and agility across all departments.

Efficient workflows and flexible infrastructures are crucial for broadcasters to stay on top of the growing amount of content within newsrooms. Long-term Grass Valley customer TV Integração, an affiliate of Brazilian commercial network TV Globo, has selected GV STRATUS for two of its sites in Brazil along with ten of the versatile EDIUS Workgroup 9 editing platform, to create an end-to-end Grass Valley news workflow. This latest deployment takes TV Integração's productions, which are overseen by Tulio Moreira dos Santos, engineering director, to the next level, allowing the production team to handle multiple formats — including user generated 'wild' files. The broadcaster plans on replicating this set-up across other sites.

New customer TV Pajuçara, a Brazilian television station based in Maceió and affiliated with RecordTV, purchased the GV STRATUS solution to support two ingest and four playout channels. The broadcaster has also deployed five EDIUS low resolution workstations and eight EDIUS Workgroup stations. TV Pajuçara, which is headed by Lucio Souto Maior, engineering director, selected STRATUS to enhance its newsroom capabilities; this project has been carried out in partnership with Foccus Digital, a leading reseller in Brazil. The new workflow ensures files are instantly available to all users on the network and provides better agility in routine approvals for local and national schedules.

"Traditional news broadcasters are now engaging with audiences across a range of platforms, including social media, to get stories to them first. As a result, the needs of the newsroom are evolving," said Nahuel Villegas, vice president of sales, LATAM region for Grass Valley. "We are extremely proud that these three major LATAM broadcasters have turned to GV STRATUS to help support them in creating more flexible, agile and well-rounded local and national news productions. These partnerships are a great example of how Grass Valley has been working closely with customers in the LATAM region to deliver solutions that help them build successful media business."
